Missing Weber BBQ Accessory

Writing as someone who cooks on a BBQ on a very regular basis, If you are cooking on a heavy duty grill, it will sear lines onto the food but if it's a fairly lightweight one, the metal itself doesn't hold enough heat to leave much of a mark on any meat.452 said:
And any sensible person would know rotating the food will give a crosshatch.
Saying that, I don't think I'd spend an extra £50+ simply to get a nice finish to a steak.

How does this stack up with Contract Law?Aylesbury_Duck said:It's not completely clear: was that model supposed to come with the grate and it's been left out of the box, or did they mistakenly advertise the wrong model? In terms of resolution, they ought to accept it back for a full refund since it's their mistake, irrespective of whether it's marked or the box a bit battered. Firstly thing I'd do is rescue the box from the bin and put it aside. Don't use the BBQ until the matter is resolved, otherwise you might limit your options.
They may consider a partial refund to reflect the difference in price, if the mistake was to advertise incorrectly, but they could simply ask you to return it for a full refund.
The supplier agreed to supply the Grill and the OP paid what they asked.
Why can the OP not sue for completion of the contract? It is not as though the price was absurdly low
Why can I not cancel my next airline flight for a full refund because I made a mistake and thought 09.00 am was 09.00 pm ?0 -
Thanks all for your advice and guidance, we have a result.
I explained to Blacks that in my belief they had mis-sold a product for something purporting to be of greater value. They offered me a 10% (£25.50) discount which I declined, I countered that 20% would be fair recompense for the retail value of the missing accessory. They agreed and I should have the money in my account in the coming days.
Having cooked a couple of lovely rump steaks last night without the GBS Sear Grate, I’ll think I’ll re-invest it in the GBS pizza stone instead.
Thanks again.4 -
Good result, and a good example of where polite negotiation can get people. Too often people go off half-cocked, ranting at retailers and demanding their rights. Sounds like you set out a sensible stance and they agreed.StevoH_2 said:Thanks all for your advice and guidance, we have a result.
