That gas number is really high, our detached house has 5-6 bedrooms and currently 3 people here, but it is well insulated and has A rated double glazing and we use less than 15,000kWh of gas for central heating and water. Our electricity is at 10,000kWh but I do charge my EV within that number as well.

Look, what is your estimated annual usage in kWh on gas and also on electricity as stated on your bill and what is your direct debit each month in pounds. you could post a link to a redacted copy of your bill.

I don't get 5300 units of gas a year - if that boiler was on 24/7 it would use about one unit (100 cubic feet) an hour and so use about 8700 units a year. 5300 units is in fact about 170,000 kWh.  You must have something wrong as I can't believe it's running a lot during the spring and summer. It only takes about 15 mins to heat up a full cylinder of hot water. We only used about 750 units of gas for 5 months from November to April during winter this year.

Only if it's an imperial meter.

Yes - it would be about 60,000kWh in metric so this what the OP has - sorry. It's still high though - about 2,000 hours a year or 5.5 hours a day.
