The media are reporting that the government will announce the changes at today’s daily press conference0

I hope they ask employers to furlough the vulnerable shielding employees. That would be welcome as I'm struggling without my wages coming in.Here I go again on my own....0

Indeed they have.gt94sss2 said:The media are reporting that the government will announce the changes at today’s daily press conference
No new furlough people after June.
Still 80% from government June, July, then 70% August, 60% September, then the scheme stops October.
Employees get 80% throughout, so employer pays the rest and also pays NI and pension.
Flexible furlough from July
EDIT - sorry, I put the wrong amounts against months:- June & July as now 80% from Government plus NI and pension
- August 80% from Government, employer pays NI and pension
- September 70% from Government, employer pays 10% plus NI and pension
- October 60% from Government, employer pays 20% plus NI and pension

Looking forward to being made redundant in that case. What a treat for a Friday. I understand the scheme can't continue forever but it seems unnecessarily restrictive to not tailor the scheme to different industries depending on when they can restart their activities. The company I work for have zero revenue until social distancing comes to an end and so I don't see how they can possibly pay any wages at this point.Grumpy_chap said:

The original scheme was rushed so fair enough was not great. But the new scheme has been planned, they could have picked up a lot of people that got left behind originally and dumped a lot of companies who are just claiming it save money.0

Hi there, I am currently working for Asda and they have put me on a paid leave during the Covid-19 crisis as I have Bronchial Sepsis Immune System Deficiency and I get the Flu Jab every year.
I am 63 years old.
My problem is Asda are expecting me to come back to work on 15th June as that is when the 12 week leave is up.My GP gave me a sick note to cover me stating that I was " Covid Risk" before Asda put me on their paid leave system.
I am terrified to go back as I haven't been out of the house except to take my wife to the shop to get supplies ( I remain in the car).
Can I ask to be put on the extended Furlough System which runs to October?
If not, what other options do I have because I don't really want to be out in the big bad world until I feel things are safer?Regards
John McGee

I think it's 80% from August and employer pays NI and pension. Sept 70% and October 60%. Employers can bring back part time workers from 1st July. If your employer bring you back in July for 2 days a week would you still get the 80% furlough and then employer paying you for the 2 days aswell ?Grumpy_chap said:

You can ask , they can say yes or no. You may be able to get SSP
If no you could look at what benefits you are suitable for
But what would you plan on doing in October? unless a vaccine is found the risk will still be the same.0 -
John - you ask ask, but nothing is guaranteed. Is your sick note from the GP still in date? You may get SSP if not furlough.
Really, though, how long do you think you want to be off for? Do you have any plan to return? The likelihood is there will not be a vaccine for many months so the virus will still be with us for a long time. What criteria would make you feel OK to go back to work?
These are worth thinking through so you can put a plan to Asda rather than just asking to have 'for ever' off work at full pay. The risk is always that it means no job to return to.0 -
If that's true then i can't see how the company can possibly survive unless they can adapt. Social Distancing is realistically going to carry on until at least next year which hopefully by then a vaccine will have been developed and distributed.monkey2guns said:
