Declined self employed government payment

I have been self employed running a beauty therapy business for years. For the last 5 years I have added to my income by doing Air bnb from a little cottage in our garden. On my tax return I declare that income as income from property, however that income has completely stopped during lockdown. My application for the government grant for self employed people has been declined and I can only think it is because more than 50% of my income comes through my Airbnb earnings. However, given that this income has been hit by the corona virus too, I cannot run either of my businesses. Has anyone who does air bnb had any success calming the self employed grant?

If you're asking if anyone has successfully claimed lost rental profits under the self employed scheme that will be a definite no since being a landlord dies not make you self employed/is not self employed income.
If you're asking if anyone is in a similar position (earnings from both renting and self employment) then yes, there will be people who have been successful. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
My brother is self employed and fulfils all criteria but is ineligible. The only thing ‘extraordinary’ is that he took out an IVA 18 months ago. I can’t find any mention that it excludes him, has anyone else come across this please? Thank you0

If more than 50% is from the AirBnB, then you won't qualify for SEISS.
Is the AirBnB fully registered as commercial property? If so, you may qualify for Small Business Grant Fund and / or Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund.
You can take delayed payment of tax and VAT (if applicable).
You can take mortgage payment holiday. Possibly other loans and utilities may agree to a payment holiday also.
You could consider Bounce Back Loan.
Other than that, it's UC.0 -
There is nothing special about being in an IVA. He needs to look at the eligibility criteria to find out why he cannot claim. He should appeal to HMRC if he doesn't understand why he's been deemed ineligible. See:Eastbourne_Lou said:My brother is self employed and fulfils all criteria but is ineligible. Jeremy535897 Thanks for your reassurance. He has appealed but has convinced himself he’ll get nothing even though he covers all the criteria. I’ll pass your message on.

There is actually something special about IVAs (and bankruptcy). They'll probably have two UTRs. If he took out IVA 18 months ago then the old UTR would cover up until 18/19 only and new one would cover 19/20 onwards only. Which would explain why the system has said he's ineligible.Jeremy535897 said:

Maybe, but it doesn't alter the fact that he is eligible. It's just an administrative glitch.unholyangel said:
