Switching

I switched from Nationwide to Halifax but now I've opened up a TSB account and want to switch my new Halifax account to it after receiving very poor customer service.

Would my payments/student finance/salary get redirected to TSB if they got sent to the old Nationwide details?

Yes if you use the CASS. Why do you doubt this?

If your looking for good customer service, I'm not sure that TSB is the right place to go... If you look around this forum a bit, you will find lots of bad reports on TSB.
Check https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2019/08/first-direct-reclaims-top-spot-in-our-banking-customer-service-p/ for a poll. Nationwide is 2nd top, TSB 2nd bottom.

I've had a TSB account since January, and am happy with their customer service. The local branch staff, in particular, are very pleasant and helpful. Their service is streets ahead of, for example, Royal Bank of Scotland.

The worst I can say of them is that their Internet Banking isn't the greatest I've ever seen. It has some idiosyncracies. However, it does work, and doesn't cause me any real problems. I'm finding it perfectly good for managing my accounts.

I've got a TSB savings account so that's why I've decided to go with them, which I've had for awhile, and in my experience I've found their customer service good and my local branch staff are very helpful and friendly.

Despite the poor customer service, why take a chance on doing a switch right now. Things would probably go smoothly but, in the event of any problems, you'd be hard pushed to get in touch at the moment.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

There's no reason to think that a switch wouldn't go smoothly. I decided to dump my RBS account earlier than I'd originally planned, and switched it to TSB a couple of weeks or so ago. The switch completed on 15 May. Everything went very well. As for getting in touch: (a) the switch can be initiated online, through Internet Banking, and (b) TSB has a dedicated switch team. I had no trouble getting through to them.

The worst problem I had was that the notice of completion that TSB put in my online inbox was (wrongly) listed as "Notice of Unplanned Overdraft"!

Fair point but the chances are so slim.

Hopefully their deal with IBM sorts them out.
