When I was single and used to holiday with friends of mine who were a couple I always paid half the cost of anywhere we stayed (that had a fixed price like a cottage).1

If he wants a double room, he needs to pay 50%. Then his wife can change her mind if she wants.
I'd suggest that if he is sure she doesn't want to come and he doesn't want to pay 50%, you look for a place with 1 double and 1 single (or 3 doubles!) and split it a third per person.0 -

I would cry off also, then suggest a 50/50 split between your husband and him, then, when he has paid up, change your mind and re-invite yourself!... Jobs a good 'un!4

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
Agreed he should pay 50% of cottage rental. It's a bit like the cost per room in a hotel. Similarly, he'd pay less for food if it's self catering so that's where his saving comes into it.0

Sorry to be late to the party on this one - but I agree with you OP - the husband should still pay 50%
I mean you have made a verbal plan with them, and it is THEM who have changed their end of it.
50% or he is taking the mick. You should not have to subsidise her mind changingWith love, POSR0 -
He should pay 50% - I would love to go away and have DH spend his days fishing/golfing so I can get on with my sewing!Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Yeah, can see both sides too. On balance though and reading others' opinions if he wants a double room he needs to pay the double room price.0
