Mum has a BB, but no pip, they don't necessarily go hand in hand

No they don't, but it is often easier to get one automatically if you meet the PIP points requirement.
  • My husband has a blue badge and he only gets low rate mobility on pip. He didn't have to give any other proof apart from the pio award

As stated in another comment on the thread, if you scored 8 points in the "moving around" part of mobility PIP then this automatically qualifies you to a BB and only a PIP award is needed. The OP didn't score those points in that part of mobility so doesn't automatically qualify.

Same here; I've had my Blue Badge for over a year (miraculously they didn't even call me for assessment! I assume they contacted one of the health professionals I put down) and have only just started my PIP application.

[In fairness I should have applied for everything a year or two sooner than I did but I was absolutely wrecked from attempting to still work.]
