PIp and blue badges

Having surfed the internet and got conflicting answers.
I wondered if anyone might help me.
I scored 12 points on the motability part of my medical assessment report ( the journey part), although I have yet to receive my official award letter.
Does this automatically get me a blue badge of do I need to provide further medical evidence?
I know it is paid every four weeks will all that information be shown in the letter

To automatically qualify for a BB under following and planning a journey you must have scored 10 points on the grounds that they cannot undertake any journey because it would cause you overwhelming psychological distress.Scoring 12 points doesn't automatically qualify you for a blue badge. Although all local councils do have their own rules this is the criteria for all local councils in England. My daughter claims Enhanced mobility under following and planning a journey but doesn't automatically qualify for the BB.You can still apply but you'll need evidence to support your claim.

We got a BB before the PIP. Just contacted local council and started the process. Another long wait for the assessment, but maybe quicker given the PIP judgment.Life in the slow lane0

Ok sounds promising. Our council are as a tight as hell here. Sacked most of the lollipop men, cut the grass verges ever other summer, repair the holes when a car disappears down one, should be fun!!!!

You automatically qualify for a Blue Badge if you are over 2 years old and at least one of the following applies:- you receive the higher rate of the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- you receive a Personal Independence Payment (PIP) because you can’t walk more than 50 metres (a score of 8 points or more under the ‘moving around’ activity of the mobility component)
- you are registered blind (severely sight impaired)
- you receive a War Pensioner’s Mobility Supplement
- you have received a lump sum benefit within tariff levels 1-8 of the Armed Forces and Reserve Forces (Compensation) Scheme and have been certified as having a permanent and substantial disability which causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking
- you receive the mobility component of PIP and have obtained 10 points specifically for descriptor E under the ‘planning and following journeys’ activity, on the grounds that you are unable to undertake any journey because it would cause you overwhelming psychological distress
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Thanks for that. I appreciate your help, I will see how much paperwork I need to attach to application and go from there. I'm missing lots of my original hospital/ consultant letters as I had to send them with application for pip. I had no other way of getting photocopies due to covid. I can get prints from my doctor's but they are in virtual lockdown too so it will have to wait until the famous 'R' rate gets closer to zero.

Our BB app was basic details on who was applying. Photo. list of meds & disability.
Had to go for assessment. Took all of 10 mins. Mrs had to show how far she could walk. Lovely lady doing this. Said "That's far enough"
I'll approve it, but I did not tell you that
Might have helped that had to take Mrs in a wheelchair due to distance from car park to where they were sited....Life in the slow lane0 -
It may not be as simple as that because the OP is claiming for reasons other than mobility. If i applied for a BB for my daughter i would have no idea how they would assess her because she has no mobility issues. Thankfully, i have a BB myself so she doesn't need one.

I get enhanced mobility payment. I applied for my BB always get it and have to pay £10. I've never had to give any other information.
My PIP runs out in November this year so when I applied for my BB last June it runs out November this year.Mortgage free September 2021. Narrowboat brought October 2021
Emergency fund £7500
Christmas fund £14300 -

If you scored at least 8 points in the "moving around" part of PIP mobility then this automatically qualifies you for the BB. The OP hasn't scored points in that part of mobility so doesn't automatically qualify.
