i have a break for October half term which more than likely will go ahead but not what we booked in terms of splash pools etc for the kids. That’s a different battle though...0 -
We're due to fly mid August to Zante, paid our balance the morning that email came out. The other half really doesn't want to go this year, but as you all say the price has increased by about 30% for the same room/time next year. If TUI cancel and give us the 20% then that's not too much of an issue, but seeing as Greece are already starting to open up a bit it's a bit worrying. Our plan is just to wait up until the 30th, if we haven't been cancelled by then we'll amend and either take the hit or find something a bit cheaper somewhere else.0

Only 1 criteria for us to NOT amend, nor accept a travel voucher......travel insurance. Our annual policy ends mid Oct, renewal will not cover Codiv-19 no doubt about that (though it will probably be called a blanket 'Pandemic' not covered in any new policy).
It's not even only about being abroad & going down with it with no cover for medical treatment. What if you became ill with it right before your new travel date, making it impossible to even go, holiday costs lost.
Obviously can't go through life NOT doing things 'just in case', but I'd want to be sure this pandemic had settled much more than it has, in every country that opens its borders & allows free movement. Preferably with a vaccine, or a watered down version of Codiv-19, or the odds of catching it are much lower.
We have a holiday in Greece booked for mid Sept. If it's 'on' we'll go, because we are still fully insured. Last year a small procedure & an overnight stay in a Jamaican hospital (the day after arrival) resulted in a bill for US$15,000. THAT'S when I learnt the absolute importance of good travel insurance, of course we'd always had it, never used it, but NOW I fully appreciate it.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
So on Tui's website it does state that the refund credit is ATOL protected. Does this mean that you won't lose your money if they go under before you spend it?0

Hi,
I am also keen to hear others experience with TUI, we have a holiday to Sorrento booked 24th June but it was for a wedding thats been moved to 2021. We are quite happy to take the credit and use the balance to pay for another holiday, has anyone done this using the 20% incentive?
thank you0 -
TUI have just cancelled my 12th June holiday to Greece.
I don't want a refund.
I want to take their offer of a refund credit, add the 20% booking incentive and book the almost same holiday for 2021 (just a few days difference).
That will mean they keep the £1400 or so that I've already paid for 2020 for a year but I'm OK with that.
However, despite it saying on the TUI website that:
"We understand that rather than waiting for your refund credit, you may want to amend your booking with your up to 20% booking incentive straight away, so we’ve set up our systems to make this possible.
You can easily amend your booking on the Manage my Booking page. The exceptions to this are if you added insurance, parking or an airport hotel to your booking, or your booking is a cruise that has been cancelled after 30 July 2020 – unfortunately you won’t be able to amend online. "
...their system is NOT making it possible for me to amend.
We booked online and added nothing to our original booking other than upgrade of luggage for 1 pax.
OH & I have spent 2 frustrating hours trying to sort it out today.
We've chosen the exact holiday we want - as you would for a brand new booking but we get no prompts and it just takes us to the payment page as if TUI don't have our money.
If we access our cancelled booking then choose the holiday we want and go to 'book', it just asks us for the refund credit code - which we don't have and may not get for another 6 weeks.
TUI have a video 'how to use your refund credit and booking incentive online' - but that starts by saying 'make sure you have your refund credit code to hand'.
And of course, you can't get hold of TUI to sort out something simple that will benefit THEM financially without spending hours on the phone.
From being quite supportive and tolerant of TUI throughout this crisis, my patience is wearing thin.
Has anyone had any success in amending their cancelled holiday before receiving their refund credit?
Thanks
