    My account was locked today

Mine was a result of the Easy Jet hack, every account I have anywhere has been hacked since

A two minute phone call and it was all sorted

    Thanks, I will check cifas
but I'll have to wait until covid is over, as they say
n line with government recommendations the Cifas office is now closed and therefore we are unable to send or receive post. We have to have your email address so that we can provide a response to you.
    but then also say

Unfortunately, we are unable to handle requests over email as we require originals of some documents in order to prove your identity before releasing information about you.

But the only information that was obtained in the Easy Jet hack was Name, Email Address and Travel Details so i can't see how any of this information can be used to access any other account. What exactly has been happening on your accounts? I think you need to think if you have fallen for some kind of phishing attempt and given out some of your passwords.

You are correct I am no longer on electoral register in UK, but I was registering on e-bay with my French address.
Amazon (uk or fr), Etsy, etc have no problem sending stuff to me at this address.
The reason I'm not trying to get the account unlocked is because I read on the e-bay boards that they NEVER do this once they have said "no appeal", so it would be a waste of energy.
The reason I am wanting to get the account closed and deleted is because they must have inaccurate data about me, to have led to this decision. So surely they can't just refuse to either correct it or delete it?
Were you trying to use eBay UK with a french address because that may be the reason they have locked your account because they may not like this. If you had registered on eBay france then you will still be able to see all the items from sellers in the UK who are willing to ship abroad so no reason to actually use eBay UK when you don't live here which could be the reason they don't like it.
They won't delete your account because they will want to keep your details so that they can prevent you from opening another account which is a valid reason.

It's possible that login passwords were also revealed (something that Easyjet won't confirm or deny) and although it shouldn't happen, an awful lot of people still use the same or very similar passwords across many different websites.

There is certainly ZERO chance of me ever wanting to open an account with them after this!

But it's not only you, its anyone at the same physical address and anyone using the same IP address.
If they suspected that something wasn't quite right with your account, they are perfectly entitled to keep hold of your details in case there are any further problems in the future.

Aside from not deleting the information they hold about you, you are now unlikely to be able to open an account even if you want to as they consider you, your address and your IP address a "risk to E-Bay and it's community"

You should have opened an account with eBay France if you reside in France, but even that may be denied to you now I'm afraid.
