Three Home Signal - discontinued?
[Deleted User]

Hi guys,
I've been with Three for probably 8 years of so, and I've always had their Home Signal box running off of my router. I live in the countryside and their signal was and is shocking here! So they issued me with the free kit. And generally, the signal at home has been pretty reliable. It's just on the road, in the major cities and abroad that its bad, but that's for another thread
Anyway, for the last week or so the Home Signal box has been flashing green, rapidly. It normally only flashed briefly when in use - call or data. Have they turned the service off because I don't seem to be being boosted anymore? Currently having to rely on the flaky, still experimental, wifi-calling on my phone. Hopefully an Android 10 update will unify everything but that's again, for another thread. Three used to have a wifi calling app of their own but that's been discontinued and is no longer supported... so during this Lockdown, I've been a bit stuck.
Tried ringing them today but the signal was bad and I ended up being cut off!
Just wanted to know if Home Signal was down, my box faulty or if it's been shutdown altogether.
Any other users here able to comment?
Thanks.

Why do you say wifi calling is flakey? It works brillianttly on my iphone with Three. Perhaps it might be worth investing in an iOS handset (iphone 6 + ) to have a better experience? I imagine with wifi calling being used by many nowadays, signal boosters such as Three's Home Signal and Vodafone Sure Signal aren't being used very widely.1

I live in a rural area with a poor signal and had a Vodafone sure signal. They kept burning out so replaced phones with ones that did wifi calling. They were both on Android 9 and worked without problem and also work on Android 10. No idea why you regard wifi calling as "flaky" or "experimental". For us the annoyance is that most minor mobile operators don't do wifi calling on any phones thus limiting our choice so no giffgaff or Tesco for us.0

Full green light herePhone (Moto G7) showing full signal on 'H'About a month ago, all mobile phones in the house wouldn't work - lots of messing about rectified nothing till we switched the box off and back on again and it's worked like a dream ever since! 😕

Right, so the wifi calling on my current handset of choice is flaky in that we haven't fully finalised that feature yet - I work in digital forensics and develop custom roms as a side. That wasn't really my concern, I just needed to know if Home Signal was down/discontinued as I couldn't reach Three support over the phone or on any of their social media channels. - still can't.Highland76 said:Why do you say wifi calling is flakey? Thanks for the Apple recommendation but if you knew or had seen the things I've seen, you would be switching to Android in a flash... iOS is fine for the average user by the way, not trying to cause alarm
In summary, the wifi-calling is my issue, I just wanted to know if Home Signal was down. It isn't by the looks, so must be my own kit. Trying them again on Live Chat but I just keep getting referred to a number with a pre-recorded message that advises me to use Live Chat

Thanks! Just checked in with my nearest neighbour, 15 minute drive away, and they're on Three with Home Signal. They've no issues. Must be my box...J_B said:Full green light herePhone (Moto G7) showing full signal on 'H'About a month ago, all mobile phones in the house wouldn't work - lots of messing about rectified nothing till we switched the box off and back on again and it's worked like a dream ever since! 😕0 -
Sorry, I didn't explain that part very well - wifi calling, yes, it's fine - just not currently (finished!) on my particular device that I'm trailing... on my partners Samsung, it's fine! - Vodafone though.giraffe69 said:I live in a rural area with a poor signal and had a Vodafone sure signal. < and develop custom roms as a side>which ones ? do you post on xda .0

No, they're not generally for public consumption - the company I support creates secure, custom roms for security/law enforcement all over the world, some of my colleagues post and use XDA though - one of their current interns was headhunted from the forums! It's a great site.JJ_Egan said:< and develop custom roms as a side>which ones ? do you post on xda .2 -
They told me they discontinued the signal boxes as mine wasn't working. In fact even though it's from an old contract they said I'd need to return the junk if I leave Three 🤣0

I've just finished (last Friday) a contract with Three, the Home Signal was working fine doing it's thing until I unplugged it to keep it ready for it's inevitable "prepaid" return to base...Mopages said:They told me they discontinued the signal boxes as mine wasn't working. I thought I'd posted the conclusion of my little saga on here but obviously not? Basically, it was them but my box was playing up - a national issue effecting a lot of customers by all accounts. I made a couple of pointless calls to their then, restricted Covid-affected support line before I messaged them (Three Support) on Twitter. The issue was resolved within about 5 days of raising it and I also got a tenner off of my bill. I'm not sorry I left them though
