Plusnet query, NOW broadband query

Hi Guys

Im currently in a contract with Plusnet until the end of July. A couple of months ago, they put the price up, which I’m pretty sure that means I can leave early with no penalty. I’m considering going to NOW Broadband. Is that a standard get out clause?

I currently pay £37 a month for my package, with an 11mps download speed. Plusnet themselves do a 60mps download for the same price! Really annoys me they didn’t offer to upgrade me o faster speeds for the same price. NOW Broadband are offering the same package for £28. Has anyone any feedback on NOW?

Rules usually are put notice in with 30 days of price rise notification to leave penalty free .Not applicable a couple of months later .
Loads of NOW BB posts on here .

I'm leaving NOW for Plusnet!  My feedback: NOW has good price for normal broadband especially if you want to use landline as all (reasonable up to 1 hr) calls are included for £18pcm.  That has to be paid on credit or debit card, you can't pay by DD.  Have regular (few times a week at least) interruptions to broadband ( usually when I'm nearing the end of a form and so lose info and I end up having to start again). Customer service is woeful/non-existent if there's a problem and if you can't find an answer via the NOW community forum you may as well give up

My plusnet contract ends in a couple of weeks.  I rang them on Friday, and asked them to pricematch nowTV.  They got pretty close - £26 a month with free calls.  This is for the medium speed fibre (33Mbps).  I agreed to an 18 month contract.
No hassle at all - the easiest 'negotiation' I've ever had with a utility provider.  All done in under 5 mins.

Well this puts a spanner in the works of my move from Plusnet to Now BB. Plusnet are one of the worse providers I've been with. Charged me for 6 months for evening and weekend calls that were meant to be included in the plan. Put up the price during contract, and because I only noticed after I received the bill over 30 days after they "informed" me said I couldn't leave; their email informing me some how ended up in my spam folder, the only one of their emails to do so. Customer service is poor and argumentative.

The Now BB appears to be one of the best deals on the market at the moment all things included. Will have to see if it's worth the risk. I'm certainly not staying with plusnet.

May help put your mind at rest, I moved from PN to NOW last year after PN refused to negotiate any deals, I've had no problems at all, bog standard browsing & bit of Netflix stuff though so maybe I'm easily pleased?

Are you on standard or fibre broadband? Also, is their router good or does it drop out or slow down occasionally?

I feel like this thread is screaming for a reply from me as I too have been in the same situation.
I was with plusnet for 4 years, since it started to get brought closer and closer to BT's pricing strategy (more mainstream ads, promotions, higher prices to pay for the marketing etc) I decided to leave.
I was able to negotatiate deals close to their new customer deals (maybe £2-£3 more expensive, under the proviso that I sign a 24 month contract).
It was no longer viable for me because the deal that NOWTV were offering, from the face of it was way better than plusnet. PLus there was a £90 cashback on a 12 month contract which was a no brainer so I went with nowTV.

Connectivity was way better with nowtv. Probably because I got a very up to date modem. But on the whole the speeds were exactly the same.
The gripes with nowtv I have are:
Payment only via card - no direct debit (no idea why)
No static IPs issues - no option to buy, they assigned you a dynamic IP which changes often.
No support for third party routers or modems - there are some hacky ways to get third party devices to work. I didn't want to take a chance with an expensive aftermarket £90+ router modem. So I just forgo'ed the benefits of my own router modem and use my router as an access point.

NowTV member area on their website is very sparse, half of it is ads to sell their TV passes which I have no interest in what so ever. But the price can't be beat. I'd have no regrets doing it again - getting the cashback and moving on, on the 12th month. They get very expensive outside of contract - so I would say yuou need to be proactive and leave their grasp 14 days before the anniversary (takes 14 days for the new ISP to take over on average).

    Standard, copper wires.
The router is fine, if it does drop out then I am unaware of it because I'm not using internet 24/7 it could, for instance, fail at midnight and come back at 0700 and I would never know
I occasionally find iplayer buffers but not Amazon or Now TV so I assume it's iplayer problem during lock down somehow

Thanks guys. I don't know what problems can be caused by a non-static IP address. Apart from that my only reservation is if I found their router slower than my Plusnet one and wanted to change it then that ain't possible. However I only use Wifi for Youtube and occasionally Netflix. I might go with them just for the change.

I just ordered. Quidco are offering £100 cashback on the £18 per month basic broadband with Now TV. You have to select the £8 calls package, but it works out at £18 per month with £100 cashback. I hope it tracks.
