Buy one of the Chinese lasers strong enough to pop a balloon, the CCD in the cameras really don't function well after a blip with those.

Helped a friend out in a similar situation, the neighbour got fed up of changing the cameras in the end.

You need to be firm and insist on seeing footage. Let him know you are worried about the safety/privacy of your young children and unless reassured will be reporting a potential threat to the police

Wouldn't that amount to malicious damage, esp as the recording will show it's from your property? Nice advice

That's why my friend didn't do it, someone walking past did - from the road, where the camera also partially covered :)
It'd incredibly daft to do it yourself.

Hi Norman, I have previously before lockdown and he just said "naaaaaahh cant see any of yours" and became a bit hostile. I mean its quite obvious he can as they are directly and purposely pointed. I felt if i pushed it he was going to get aggressive.
The cameras will point away from his house, in order to view the road/street? Half of the cameras point in your direction and the other half in the other direction, that sounds normal.

Just to point out that cameras can look as if they point at your house, but actually dont.

    How old are your children?
    4 & 7!

This was my first concern as well. You have no idea what this person's motivations are or where recordings of your children might end up. Now, in reality, the answer to the above is probably no motivations and nowhere, BUT it would make me extremely uncomfortable that someone was filming my kids in such a way that I felt they couldn't use their paddling pool in August!
  • Hi Will.

This is obviously unacceptable. The guy might well be a bit paranoid due to his heritage and a life of being/feeling persecuted against, but that is no excuse. You cannot have your privacy invaded like that - it's nuts.

You need to record (no, not using a camera...) ever interaction you've had with him in trying to resolve this issue - note down all the conversations as accurately as possible. "It's easy to say I should push him to show me, but really felt like he was raging inside and was extremely angry at my presents at that point , he had been ok to start with. He told me he is gypsyy heritage and he cage fight and told me how well connected he is blah blah blah almost threatening me." No 'almost' about it - it's almost certainly what his intention was.

It's perfectly normal to feel intimidated by such comments and the way in which they were delivered.

Time to call your local Bobby. Ironically you may find that they have more time on their hands these days due to everyday crime having fallen due to the lockdown, although this is on the increase again. But what you are experiencing is, I believe, 'criminal'. The guy claims he cannot see on to your property - the bobby will soon ask him to confirm this.
