Just had an email from the section 75 department at Santander (claim as per my earlier post on this thread), they are initially trying a chargeback for a quicker resolution, and if not successful they will take the section 75 route.
I think most cards start a Chargeback first,  will be quicker for you, and cheaper for them.
The OP would either have to do a CB on every card the OP used, or a S75 on the credit card.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.
    " I am not a number! I am a free man!"

  • 10 weeks after submitting the section 75 claim, I received a full refund from the bank. Shortly after that a letter from National Holidays saying they were back in business. No way would I pay them a penny again.

The name was bought by Leger Holidays, a bit stupid of them to say 'they are back in business' as you rightly point out, people won't book unless they know it has nothing to do with the old business.
  • I am being sent around in circles.  I paid in full for a weekend away which was cancelled due to Covid on my John Lewis Partnership card.  Applied for a chargeback (by completing an awful online form).  They came back and said I had to have proof the trip wasn't covered under a bond, if I didn't come back to them within 14 days they would assume the matter resolved. I then contacted BCH.   They put me in touch (after chasing) with a claims specialist company acting on their behalf.  Got a reply to my submission to say that I should hear from them within '6 weeks'.  On the very last day of the 6 weeks I received an email 'you aren't covered under ATOL as there wasn't a flight - do a chargeback'.  I replied 'what about BCH' apparently no, not covered (even though I pointed out to them the National Holidays' booking terms and conditions states that we are covered under a bond).  Back to John Lewis Partnership to submit ANOTHER awful online form (you cannot save the document) and am now awaiting their response.  They text to acknowledge my submission - 'I should hear within 30 days' - 27th Sept is the day.   Will I be sent in another direction?  To be fair I thought there would be no problem with it being John Lewis but alas no.
Anyone else applied for a chargeback with John Lewis Partnership card?
  • In my case with a Santander credit card, all I had to do was phone them and then forward all the relevant emails, etc.
You mention “charge back”, if you paid by credit card the card issuer is jointly liable and you should submit a section 75 claim to the card issuer, they have 8 weeks to respond, if they fail to reimburse you in full, you can take the matter to the Ombudsman.
A chargeback is not relevant if you paid by credit card.

Thanks yes it was under section 75 that I applied for initially but good news, I have just checked my online statement and I have received a chargeback credit, they just hadn’t  bothered to let me know so apologies to John Lewis Partnership.  I really had envisaged a fight to get this money back 😊
