Utilita demand for 0.73 payment after switch from Eversmart Oct 2018
Options
Bemused to get a final Eversmart BIll today from utilita indiacting I owe 73 pence following switch to EDF in October 2018.
As far as I was aware the final payment to Eversmart covered all monies owed. Is there a statute of limitations to demand back payment.
Although there is a detailed 3 page bill to accompany the demand, nowhere does it detail where the 73 pence outstanding is calculated

Yep, it's six years.
If you are good at sums then perhaps you could work it all out from your initial meter read when you joined them to your final one when you left. Don't forget to work out exactly how many days you were with them and take into account VAT. Check all your bank statements to establish exactly how much you paid . It will even easier if you've saved all your bills to cross reference them against meter reads and payments and then you could send them a letter to query it. You could also ask them for a full set of statements from the day you joined them just in case you didn't bother to keep copies yourself
However, I'd probably just pay 73p to get rid of them, but it's entirely up to you.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers2 -
I'd make them work for it if they are going to be that petty over 73p

I've just had a demand for £160, which could have only been described as "creative accounting", cancelled.
£0-73make them work for it.

Upon phoning through to Billing I was informed that my balance was zero, and that a bill was sent in error. Win-win ! Confirmation in writing requested. Another good conclusion for the consumer1

Received my bill today for 56p, exactly correct by my calculations.. I left them on the day they ceased trading so had not paid anything else to Utilita. I will pay it from the £60 compo Utilita paid me for erroneously stealing the account after I had already moved away.

I thought I was in debit by about £10. Yesterday I got a letter saying I was in credit by £16.85 and could expect a cheque in 14 days. That was from August 2019.No free lunch, and no free laptop1

My daughter got her bill as well, £28.20 credit, exactly what I had calculated. Looks like they have eventually got round to sorting it all out.

Still waiting. I know that I owe them about £150, so no rush then!0

I was expecting a bill of £70+ from the time I left Eversmart and Utilita took over, I received a credit for over £100
Just waiting for the cheque before I treat myself!
