Polish and other Eastern European food and drinks

Options
Supermarkets in the UK are now offering a range of sausages and cold meats from Poland, such as Sopocka, Wiejska, Kielbasa, Krakowska and others, which I happen to find absolutely excellent.

Trouble is, they're all so bloody expensive.

Any idea where to get them at a good price? Offers, etc?
There is no Polish shop where I live.

Danke. Dziękuje. Thank you.

We have been buying them from Asda for my sons Polish girlfriend(although im partial to Krakowska) but as you say they are pretty expensive.Cant help you with other shops as i have had a good look around and found nothing else here.
She went back to Krakow last week to see her family and has brought loads of different meats, sausages and cheeses back at a fraction of the cost.

Morrisons sell some bits. They have small packs of Pek Kabanos, sliced pork loin and sopocka, if i remember correctly.

The following link might help you locate one:

  • Yes, I've seen PEK products at Morrisons. Thanks for the link!

Lidl do Korbasa in vacuum packs next to the fridge stuff. They come in two's and are only £1.29. I buy loads and freeze them and it tastes really nice
  • Cheers, Vikkia. I'd just like to clarify whether you mean their "Kabanossi", two in a green vacuum pack, and made in Germany. They are very nice, though, and I buy them regularly.
  • How far in East England are you??
There's 2 shops on the High Street in Lincoln that sell Polish food amongst other stuff
Baltic Foods-sells Polish and Baltic state foods
Krakow Jaks-sells loads of Polish stuff

Better still get a job working with loads of Polish people and get them to bring stuff for you!!
I particularly like Kebanos,Bigos and Galabki
  • As far East as possible in the UK. A few hundred yards east and I'm in the North Sea.

I like your idea...must befriend my many Polish customers. Time to learn some Polish basics. :D
  • until recently we had a group of polish lads living next door to us and they would bring us back homemade Bigos (polish hunters stew) in giant jars, and homemade pickled gerkins. when they had BBQs in the summer they would bring us round some polish sausage too.
  • There are quite a few Polish and Lithuanian shops in Peterborough (we have been to at least 8 as far as I can remember). Names of sausages might be different but style and quality will be same.
Don't forget to buy very dark rye bread (but not that German brick shaped and brick tasting thing) and pickled gherkins to go with your smoked meat... :)
