BRITTANY FERRIES NOT PLAYING FAIR

Brittany Ferries not playing ball.
Stupidly I cancelled my booking for a trip on the 1st May having heard President Macron's orders on lockdown
I didn't have the cancellation option in my ticket but expected Brittany Ferries to send me vouchers for travel on a future trip. Whilst in hindsight I should have left the booking in place it was in March when all the best information was not available. In any event having travelled with Brittany for 20 years without a single cancellation I had hoped for a bit more understanding
They have used a clause to get out of paying and I don't think it is in the spirit of goodwill

So you purchased a cheap ticket with no cancellation option ,you cancelled the ticket but expect the company to give you a complementary ticket ? i suspect that they will hang on to every penny they can legally to keep them afloat in these troubled times.1

I'm sure you do feel aggrieved but Brittany Ferries are only following their terms and conditions. I'm more sympathetic with travellers who are having money withheld because their operators are blatantly breaking the law.
I'm glad you've found the travel boards now but every travel experts I've heard since lockdown began (and even before) has explained that cancelling yourself is considered 'disinclination to travel' so companies or travel insurance won't pay out if you jump the gun.
For any lurkers. wait [patiently until the company cancels.

I have a ferry booked and paid for from 15 June returning 29 June
havent heard anything from BF but if we need to quarantine for 2 weeks in France and England no point in a camping holiday

what should I do0 -
In light of the coronavirus situation and advice, Brittany Ferries has temporarily suspended passenger services. We apologise sincerely to all those affected customers.
We are now in the process of cancelling all passenger sailings between the UK and Ireland to France and Spain up to 15 June 2020. Limited freight-only services are operating between the UK, Ireland, France and Spain.

Those dates wouldn't seem to help jolizzie as they are due to travel on the day the cancellations cease. If BF sailings go ahead it will be the customer's decision as to whether or not they wish to travel. In that situation there would be no automatic entitlement to a refund.

Brittany Ferries for the last few days (8th June) have stopped the manage my booking also cut off the phone line and made sure the contact us form does not work.
I am trying to amend our booking to a later date but unable to do anything. If the company is not contactable at all can I use section 75?
They are however still taking bookings!!0 -

I'd be looking at my travel insurance to claim under in these circumstances. If the sailing is still available and you can enter France, they're not going to refund you. Why would they? The best they will offer is a change of dates or a voucher.jolizzie said:I have a ferry booked and paid for from 15 June returning 29 June

Brittany Ferries have just tweeted that 'Manage Booking' is down. It stated "We're really sorry to confirm Manage My Booking is down, this occurred during the launch of our new Irish website on Thursday. Our engineers are working around the clock to resolve it & we'll let you know when it's fixed. We're so sorry that it's happened at this difficult time". Make of it what you will. Hope it helps.0
