Didn't sound like that.  Read as that they found out what overtime they were being paid by looking at the payslip not that they were checking it for accuracy.


My question wasn't clear enough.  I wondered how they would know they had been paid correctly if they used the payslip to inform them how many hours they would be paid for.

It's a combo of checking for accuracy and finding out how much tax, NI and student loan has been deducted. Payroll are not great at the maths. Sometimes overtime is missed and paid a month late. I am currently getting some bonus mileage but they are putting it in the wrong category for tax meaning I will need to repay tax later. I also recently had a payrise. I always know how many hours overtime I have done, but it's still lucky dip about how much I get paid!
