Used car from main dealer - back to garage twice in 10 days

Hi all
I picked up a used approved car about 13 days ago from main dealer.
When I got home I noticed aircon wasn't working & engine management light was on (amber).
Car went back to dealer for a few days & aircon regassed & software updated.
Got the car back 3 days ago and after 3 x 50 mile round trips to work (mostly fast B roads) the engine management light is on amber again today.
Obviously going back to the garage again who do seem to be concerned about the problem.
I'm aware that the clock is ticking with regards to rejecting the car (which I'm hoping not to do) but wondering if there is anything else I should be doing to protect my ASSet
Thanks !

As you’ve not said what you bought, how much you paid or what warranty you’ve got on the vehicle the advice is simply generic.
Engine management light covers a magnitude of things from very simple to catastrophic and your problem appears intermittent so unlikely to be serious
The time to check over a car is before you buy it, Air con and engine light can easily be seen and felt.
Price, age and condition of vehicle temper all rights and responsibilities the “dealer” has towards fixing anything
Whilst others may tell you you’ve a right to reject there needs to be a valid reason taking into account the above tempered expectations
Right now anything takes longer than normal so you’ve notified them and they are apparently dealing with it

Depending on the severity of the issues, and the age of the vehicle and price paid ... the legal position is that the seller is allowed a single opportunity to make the goods conform to contract. If the goods still fail to conform (for any reason, not necessarily the same reason) then the consumer can exercise their Final Right To Reject.
In this situation (given that we are still within 30 days from delivery/purchase) then the consumer could have exercised their Initial Right To Reject for a full refund. However allowing the seller to effect a repair essentially removes this right and brings the FRTR into play.0 -
Thanks all.
Sorry for drip feeding but was really just after generic advice i.e. should I be putting anything in writing saying that if this second attempt at repair doesn't work then I reserve the right to reject (or something along those lines).
The car is a Jaguar xe 180D, 5 years old, 32k on clock.
Bought from a main Jaguar dealer for £15k & comes with a 12 month Jaguar approved warranty.
Engine light was not on when I viewed / picked up the car. Fair point about my not checking the air con properly though.
Car is going back to the garage tomorrow. Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???0 -
A Jag you say? The light is probably just to remind you to look at the instrument cluster so you can check the speedo whilst there. 🤣0

OP - totally unrelelated question, but how did you test drive the car etc. whilst maintaining social distancing?0

I test drove the car just before everything kicked off. (I also sold my car at the same time).
Because lockdown kicked in the dealer then couldn't prepare the car for me to pick up.
So I was left with a 50 mile round trip to work & no car!
As I'm a nurse working directly with the Covid response the dealer had to get permission from someone to get the car ready for me.
Luckily (for me) my daughter has been furloughed so I've been able to use her car.
Everything done since with the garage has stuck to social distancing (to their credit they are taking it very seriously). Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???0 -
