Sky TV dodging customers again!!

I sent Sky a cancellation letter and received an email stating
"We’ve received a request to cancel your Sky account. To complete this action we need to speak to you to confirm your security information. We’ll attempt to call you over the next few days so we can verify the required details with you, however if we’re unable to speak to you it may mean that we will be unable to complete your request."
So if I miss their call or cannot get through (I'm still working full time) then my cancellation will be ignored.....and later in the email it states "If you don’t want us to progress with your request then no further action is required from you."
So it looks like they are putting every stumbling block in my way to stop me cancelling....can't live chat, can't email, and even writing seems to be a non starter. This is pretty shoddy !
EDIT : I cannot reply to the email address that they contacted me with as it is unmonitored - how convenient !!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
Do you know if the normal bartering techniques work with the online chats instead of the phone?Like a lot of people my fiance lost her job so we're looking at a few ways to cut back, Sky being one of them. I don't necessarily want to cancel and would probably keep it if there's a discount (seeing as now she has found herself watching a lot of TV anyway), but would happily cancel if they couldn't drop the price a bit to be more competitive.I'm aware we're not in the worst situation the pandemic has caused, but we still need to be looking into saving money where we can more than usual.0
