Not really because they absolutely have no idea I have that much

If you're talking £50 then I don't see any problems paying it into the bank.   However, if its £5000 I think the bank will be VERY suspicious of a 14 yr old with that sort of cash.

Please tell us this is genuinely your own money saved from Birthdays/Christmas/odd jobs, and that you are NOT being asked by a "friend" to pay this into your account, and then withdraw it to give to them.    Have you read up on Money Mules and how it can wreck your financial future.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Please consider what Sea_Shell has advised. This is an important time in your financial life.  This website is useful

Sorry if we are coming across as a lot of fussy adults, but if you have any worries or someone is pressuring you then consider contacting child line if you feel you cannot speak with your parents

The Banking Forum would be the appropriate place for this!

The OP for this thread @LlamaV2 would be well advised to see what the outcome was for @rae2271's son.

It is difficult to asses the real risk because we don't know whether the OP refers to a large amount of money as, say £50 or £100 which is a large amount to a 14-year old but has genuinely been saved through thrift, OR does the OP mean a large amount of money, like £000's, which is a large amount to anyone.  Especially to have in cash and want to pay into the bank without seeing anyone at the counter, or parents knowing.

The latter scenario suggests drug or mule money or other underhand goings on.  The former would be fine.

Ill apologise if I'm wrong but the way the OP writes does not strike me as a 14 year old - it sounds like someone much older!

I lent the other way - surprised that a 14 year old had never been into a bank.

Oooh you lot. So suspicious  :D

(and yes, thought exactly the same. My 14 YO is smart but her online writing style is a bit more 'contemporary')

"And it there a maximum amount of money that can be deposited in those machines so I don’t have to go up to those counters?"

They seem to have quite a good handle on what is in the bank for someone who has never been in one.
