I think the 14 days quarantine announced yesterday means no travel outside of Britain. Who can afford an extra two weeks self isolating at home after a holiday.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.
  • It'll take one of the major companies like IAG to threaten tens of thousands of redundancies before they take notice perhaps.

Well current FCO advice is against all non essential international travel   so that would rule out holidays.
End of quarantine may coincide with lifting that restriction.

If it was allowed to travel abroad and the hotels were functioning normally we could go abroad ,we are retired and have as much time as needed to self isolate , i am sure there are others who could afford to take extra weeks off work if they needed to.

I wouldn't waste my leave  from work stuck at home and unable to even go for a walk. Even if I were retired I wouldn't do it. No flights for me until to Foreign Office has lifted the ban, the quarantine has gone and travel insurers start to sell policies which cover Covid.

Well everybody is entitled to their own choice , due to the current covid virus most people are stuck at home in isolation anyway so two weeks after a holiday will not be much different.
As for travel insurance to cover covid in the future ,i doubt if you will see anybody covering this in the near future and if they do at what price ? so i think given your choice of parameters you will not be going abroad for a long time.

Everyone will have their own take on it but I'm not planning to fly again this year. I just think that there's far too much uncertainty which would be stressful right up to the date of departure even if everything works out well by then.

November/December is the time of year when I normally travel and I plan and look forward to it all year. My destinations are generally a bit off the beaten track so I'd need to consider how I'd get home if something went awry. I've written this year off and will look to see how things are next spring.
