+1 for NOD32. Been using it for 15+ years and its arguably the lightest AV Suite out there. Makes Malwarebytes Premium feel like bloatware.

Dont encourage people to start downloading AV suites willy nilly

OP, your desktop cant 'get hacked' like the movies - well it can but it wont have been unless you are a russian spy or a trillionaire.

You have inadvertantly installed some malware, thats all.

First thing to do is remove then antivirus that you have installed now.

then reboot your computer

Then go here and run this free program and let it scan your computer

https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

It will find a lot of stuff - let it delete/quarrantine everything it finds

Then reboot your computer again

Tell us - are you running windows 10 ?

I got a wrist-slap message from MSE for marking someone's post as spam when MSE didn't think it was spam. They didn't say which post it related to (they never do ... really helpful MSE - not!) but I suspect it was in relation to the poster Andy is replying to, as said poster's posts have the "smell" of post count building ready for spamming. I note that two other people also have similar suspicions.

 Surely, reporting something as spam is not a definitive condemnation of the post? The Mods(?) are the ones who should look at the reports and then make up their collective minds.
If they don't specify why they are peeved about something then it should be assumed that they don't know why they've admonished you....

Bitdeffender  is very good and the support is excellent, that said I now use Linux Mint where you don't need AV.
