Just don't connect your TV to the internet and your "problem" is solved. :)

Even a dumb tv is now a mini computer which needs some boot time.

I wish I could get a 'dumb' TV! I hate smart TVs. I bought my first one last year and it's rubbish! Takes ages to do anything, Samsung started advertising on the menu bar. I'd rather have a HD panel that I could hook upto a computer I control for 'smart' functions.
That's how I've got mine set up. It's quite an old Panasonic, but it stays on the HDMI input and there is a Windows 10 PC connected to it, which is in a silver case and stacks up with the stereo. It autostarts Kodi which is connected to a network drive with all of our films, TV boxsets and music on it. It also runs Now TV, Spotify, Disney+ etc. so it's just got the functions I want, and set exactly the way I want it.
