What are travellers rights if TUI pushes ahead with holidays but applies severe restrictions?

The latest update from TUI is that they expect summer holidays to go ahead from Mid-June, which means consumers will have no choice to go on holiday or cancel and lose the cost of their holiday. Further they have indicated that should holidays go ahead they will be applying severe restrictions To travellers and facilities including:
- no buffet service
- possibility meals will have to be served to holidayers in their rooms
- holiday activities to be severely restricted with a number of sports facilities not available
- communal pools may not be available for use
What are customers rights if these restrictions make the holiday so restricted that it is not worth going or not worth the cost that has been paid? Do you have a right to a part refund, or the right to cancel without penalty, if the holiday is restricted to the point where it is not as advertised and/or the restrictions result in a significantly degraded holiday experience?

Meals in rooms wouldnt be on but going forward people are going to have to accept there are going to have to be changes and people getting their "compo faces" on is hardly going to ensure a fully functioning travel industry going forward
To be honest there are bigger issues at the moment such as "quarantine" periods at either end of the journey, potentially for longer than the holiday even lasts for, before anything in your opening post can be actually addressed.3 -

What do I do if I’ve booked a package holiday and my travel company makes a significant change to my booking?
Tell you about the change and give you a reasonable period of time to decide if you want to accept it or cancel with a full refund. You have the right to accept the change or to cancel the package and receive a full refund within 14 days.
The battle ahead is what will be classed as a "significant change"
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Me and my wife are due to fly on June 26th to Majorca. I m hoping TUI will cancel the Holiday, however in the event that they haven't done so by May 30th I'll have to make use of their "TUI Travel Promise" and move our holiday to next year to avoid potential issues.
Frankly, I can't see how TUI can possibly go ahead with Holidays given Foreign Office advice and given the "Quarantine" periods either side of the Holiday.1 -
There is no chance June 26th is happening. Absolutely none.3

We're due to go away 31st July to Turkey. At this point in time I would feel very uncomfortable going but it is over 2 months away. I believe that this virus is here to stay and until there is a vaccine we have to proceed with caution but live with it as best we can.
The situation about quarantine coming back into the U.K. has gone quiet, is it actually going to happen? I feel that it's too late anyway.
I would love to go on holiday but only I feel it's safe and that we could still have some freedoms whilst there. I know the RIU chain are talking of operating at 50% capacity, reducing buffet size and separating sunbeds around pools.
On a plus point at least we might not have to fight over the sunbeds 😂0 -
TUI is a German Company. Comments made may well not apply to UK holidays.0

I suspect they will.Thrugelmir said:TUI is a German Company. Comments made may well not apply to UK holidays.0 -

Sorry I thought you were inferring they wouldnt apply to TUI customers in the UK going abroad, and only to its German ones going abroad. Which is why I thought you were being ludicrous 🤣0
