What car deal should an NHS nurse get right now?

So I’m an NHS nurse with a lease car, supposedly going back May 23rd (not heard from the dealership and it’s been difficult getting in touch with them, job for Monday).
Gonna need a new car, don’t know where to start with this. Don’t have the money to buy outright, but could muster 1k deposit if I need to. Don’t care if new or old or second-hand, or what make or model it is. Just want it cheap to insure! And cheap itself too, wanting to avoid extreme interest rates too.
Any companies doing great NHS staff deals? Can’t wait around to check the market after lockdown is fully lifted, so need whatever I can get. Any recommendations?

Is it really on lease or is it a finance agreement such as a PCP that you have. Can you not extend it?

Can’t extend, tried to on the last one I had (same dealership, same deal).

Do you have motorfinity on your blue light card? There might be some options there. Failing that ask direct at dealers what options they'll give NHS workers. I know another public sector worker that negotiated a discount and 0% interest.

There are places like https://www.nhs.motorsourcegroup.com/  that can supply PCP, cash sales and leases for NHS staff at discounts.
My Mrs bought her car from here along with a couple of colleagues, savings can be around £3000 upwards if you select the right make/model, she saved just over £4000.

Fiat/Alfa/Jeep have discount schemes for NHS staff called Privilege and Affinity (you have to ask for the scheme at the dealers)
We've had a couple on PCP and then just paid them off right way, again £3000 upwards off.
A cheap, simple and robust little car from them is the Panda. With a grand down and a couple of grand off via the scheme, you could end up with a bit of a bargain.

My latest car is from Renault with a Bluelight card, just go in and ask.
Saved nearly £4500 on a new Clio, it was a PCP deal I have just paid off, so 0% interest paid.

Yip, few think that this 3 month so far episode won't have to be paid for, for years to come.

Recession and job losses to follow......

No they shouldn't. Getting a bit tired of this "all NHS staff should get everything for free because they work in a hospital and go to work to do the job they chose to do." The majority of NHS staff have very little to directly do with Covid-19, many report their departments are dead because nobody is coming to hospital and some actually feel embarrassed by all the hero worship.
