I agree, which is why I recommended the Joanna Martin book. It is really upbeat and positive and covers a whole range of ideas for people. It also starts each section with a famous quote which I really liked and found quite inspiring.4 -
Wish I had time to be bored tbh
Im still working outside the home for between 3 and 5 days a week, shifts are all over the show, somedays might get finished before lunch, other weeks I have to do extra shifts so its still difficult to plan anything in advance. Before Covid I knew what days I was working and what time I started and finished and I planned around then accordingly. And weeks were defined, now they are just rolling days
So other then work, my house is big enough that I could possibly if I was inclined , to clean a bit every day and still not ever be done, so as it is I don't
I mean, its not like anyone is going to be popping in for a cuppa anytime soon is it?
The garden also takes up time, esp in the evenings on lovely warm days where we go outside, sit in the sun and enjoy a pint - or three
We have a good veg garden going this year, all from seed and the flower beds are weed free for a change. The patios have been weeded and preasure washed, the lawns are perfectly manicured, well from a distance they look that way, up close you see its moss and not grass. Still its green, it looks the part
Then we have the snooker table, Im now getting to beat Mr S, its amazing how much you can improve when you have nothing more pressing to do
We have corn hole, darts, horse shoes and even a bit of archery and dare I say shooting
And I took up crochet again, Im learning how to make Octopus For Preemies. They are bloody hard and need total concentration, but so addictive and also so worthwhile. It is a recognised charity and Im learning alongside another 6 to 8 people via messenger so its quite sociable as well
Then of course I have the highlight of the week, the supermarket queue. I go to just two shops but seem to spend longer in the queues then I do the shop. I don't mind though, everyone else is in the same boat and wants to chat to someone so the time passes quickly
So between all that, then meal planning and cooking from scratch every day, Ive not even found time to bake. Thankfully I have managed to claw back some time, I now have no ironing to do. We have lived in work clothes, joggers or night clothes since the start of all this , can't remember the last time I opened my wardrobe door lol. Unfortunately because I don't have ironing to do I cant indulge on watching my box sets which was my secret vice on a Sunday
So nope, certainly not bored. No time nor inclination to be bored7 -

Rather harsh, do you dismiss all views which differ from yours so casually? I’ve too much to do to be bored, but my social life was important to me, and I miss it. I’m sorry you would think my saying so is “whining”.-taff said:

Feeling sorry for ourselves does nothing but make a difficult situation 100 times worse. We all without exception are subject to the same rules and no one likes being made to do something so if what is unavoidable can be looked at as a positive to help keep us all safe from an untreatable disease that might just kill a fair few of us then maybe we'll not all stay sitting wallowing in the feeling of misery and unfairness that seems to be the response in many cases. If we all stay distanced whether we feel we need to or not because we're likely to survive covid-19 then those of us who ARE likely not to survive getting it will hopefully be alive when it's gone to say thank you and appreciate your selflessness.6

I certainly won't be apologising this time for admitting Im not bored and am actually really enjoying life right now
Missing a social life is a completely different thing
Sure I miss my friends, the kids and the grandkids, but Im not bored because they are missing from my life in the flesh at the moment . I don't need them to stop boredom6 -
Oh dear, so sorry to have butted in on your private conversation. I saw money...’s post but not the one from ceridwen. You obviously know each other well. I’ll delete my post.-taff said:Blue_Doggy said:

It’s not the social distancing that’s distressing, it’s the social isolation.MrsLurcherwalker said:Feeling sorry for ourselves does nothing but make a difficult situation 100 times worse.
