HELP! - New flat, shoddy work, won't sell, in big mess

I bought the flat to live in. It's not inner city, but in a very up and coming suburb. Other one bed flats are at least 110K, but they are much bigger! Thing is in September I knew that my job was going to change from Jan (less work, less money), so as soon as it was completed I put it on the market. I asked the estate agents to emphasise this to potential buyers as I guess many thought I was after a fast buck.
It's a man flat as it has a very small kitchen / lounge, but a separate bedroom. Just enough room to put the ready meal in the microwave and then watch the football!
The decorator has said it will be a days job (£100) to spruce it up, he says that he can't do miracles but it has to be better than it is now.
This was the developer's first project - he has obviously been watching property ladder - he over ran by 6 months and did a rubbish job!
Going to see what response I get from 88950 - I will keep dropping it until it sells! At least I have learnt a lesson, I guess some people lose a lot more.0 -

This sounds reasonably positive, doesn't sound ridiculously priced compared to one bed places, how much do studios go for? It may be the state of it as much as anything that is putting people off. The market seems weak, but there are still some people buying.
Have you tried going back to the developer or your solicitor? Maybe if you exchanged on the basis it was going to be of a certain quality inside, you might have some comeback?
Good luck anyway, you should be able to sort out the most obvious snags in a flat quite cheaply, not like a house where you have walls and a roof to worry about.
Best of luck0 -

I would assume that it's something like Man-flu ie far far worse than the female kind.0 -

go4 it, where is the flat?
Maybe it might be worth making some tentativce steps towards any housing associations in your area that might be increasing thier portfolio? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I've thought about this, Chevin Housing Group have a block up the road. The flat is in Sheffield. Typical studios in city centre are 85K apartments 110K. This is 5 minutes from city centre, spacious green park nearby, shops galore around, health club at bottom of road. But whilst I've got screws loose and blotched paint on my walls then the flat is going nowhere at the minute!
Do housing groups normally buy off individuals? It would be ideal for anyone who is a fan of shared ownership - 44K for 50%0 -

Is it this - why did they not put in central heating.....
Also it needs to look a bit more lived in.....There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -
Owwww your in Sheffield.
Better get it sold quick. Look around you, you'll see why.0 -
New build flats are like cars - they lose 10% of their value as soon as you have bought them.poppy100
