Club Med cancellation

Hi,
In the same situation as lots of others. Booked with Club Med for 15Aug - accommodation only. We won't be going as son has a heart condition and no insurance is covering Covid19.
Paid £825 deposit. Balance of £4900 is due on Sunday. Have had a facebook DM from them saying that they are not taking any balances from anyone until advice is clearer from the UK Govt. Have then spoken to the call centre twice who have said they will try to get authorisation to pay 30 days out, and change dates if we want. If that was an option we would take it. If not, I would rather pay the 25% cancellation fee now meaning we owe them another £606. Their email said we have to pay the full balance of £4900 and they will refund 75% eventually. Does that seem right if we are cancelling before the balance is due and giving them notice?
Thanks,
