Zero standing charge electricity tariff
Options
I've got an empty property which is for sale so the only electricity usage is occasional lights when viewing. Currently with edf paying 24.35p per day standing charge and looked to switch to a zero standing charge to Utilita or Ebico. Looks like Ebico has a minimum annual charge of £52 pa; and Utilita do the zero rate with a smart prepayment meter. What is this exactly? Utilita are not manning phone lines at the moment and very little information on their website re tariffs and I can't find out anything about smart prepayment meters. There are no exit fees so if I pay £5 per month with smart prepayment meter how would that work? There is already a smart meter in the property, and it's been rented out for a few years so don't know much about it. Thanks

If it takes you six months to sell then at 24.36p a day I guess you will be looking at a bill of £45 so if you can find a deal of £52 pa (plus any exit fees) you will save a max grand total of £19 over six months. Is it worth the time and effort for just a few quid?0

Use a comparison site to find the best deal for you. as explained here:

Thanks for this. What I really want to know is what is a smart prepayment meter and how does it work? But as said by cranford it's probably not worth the bother0
