Will SEISS Grant affect Carer's Allowance?

My Carer awaits his SEISS grant to be credited into his bank account, having claimed this today.  It amounts to just under £2,000.  Will this sum affect his claim for Carers Allowance for this Tax Year?  He works within the Construction Industry.  Should he report that he is getting this Grant to DWP?
Thanks.

It would depend on whether the grant will increase his weekly profit to more than the amount you are allowed to earn whilst claiming Carer's Allowance.  At the moment that figure is £128 per week.

When I was claiming Carer's Allowance and was self employed I used to have to complete a form and send in a copy of my accounts every 12 months.  Usually around about the anniversary of the date I first claimed.

The grant should be included in the accounts as part of the self employed income.

    Thanks whizzywoo.
The initial claim for CA was backdated to 20 May 2019, so guess that will be the anniversary date.
His self-assessment tax return for 2019-2020 was filed a few weeks ago, and he received a tax rebate based on that a fortnight ago.  His earnings get taxed at 30%, at source.
Being in the Construction Industry, I seem to think the claim gets handled 'differently' and because income is irregular, the CA decision is made on the previous full tax years figures.

The 30% CIS tax deduction won't make any difference. It's the net profit that counts.

Be aware though that net profit for DWP Carer's Allowance is not necessarily the same as taxable profit.

If you search Gov.co uk you should be able to pull up some info on how they arrive at taxable profit. Not all expenses are allowed.

This is the Decision Makers' Guide about how earnings are calculated for non-income related benefits, which Carer's Allowance under.  It's a long document but you need to study the bit about how self employed earnings are arrived at:

Be aware that even a 1p a week over the threshold will end the Carer's Allowance and could mean an overpayment.  Not fair but not a lot is in Benefit World.
