Money sent in error to wrong sort code

Oh just saw your last post. Did your bank continue to contact the recipient of the funds on your behalf?0

The poster hasn't logged on since March, so I doubt they are likely to respond.sarahern said:Oh just saw your last post. Did your bank continue to contact the recipient of the funds on your behalf?
All you can do is keep speaking to your bank, but I think that there is a new process in place for most major banks since the original poster had the same problem. When I send money to a new payee from any of my accounts, the bank cross-checks the sort code and account number with the name of the payee (if their bank is signed up to the same confirmation of payee scheme), and alerts me if they don't match. Did your bank do the same, and if so, how did the money end up with the wrong recipient?
Advice for the future: when sending money to a new recipient, send £1, call the recipient to check that it's arrived safely, then send the rest.1 -
The procedure for finding out the name and address of the recipient can be found by Googling 'Norwich Pharmaceuticals Order'
This, if successful, will force the bank to disclose the information you require.0 -
The poster in question made a balance transfer, not a bank transfer. They've already been advised in the thread they made on the CC board that the rules regarding bank transfers being sent to the wrong account do not apply to balance transfers.Aylesbury_Duck said:
