fines from a long-sold car

Hello, I have such a problem, I sold the car to a friend in October, he promised me that he would draw up online documents, I moved to another address and did not know that there were fines at the old address, and now I received a letter from debt recovery plus, Yesterday I went to the old address, and it turned out that there were 36 letters, 30 about fines. From the evidence I have a money transfer, and sorn registered for the car two days before the sale, I am horrified what to do?

There is no need for a poll.

Are these fines from an authority or are they parking charges from a private company? I suspect the latter, in which case please use the correct terminology.
If they really are fines then you should go to pepipoo.com.

Please read the sticky thread for NEWBIES that asks you to read it first before posting. This tells you why it is safe to ignore powerless debt collectors.

Was the V5C updated with the DVLA when the vehicle was sold? If so, was it done before or after the PCNs started to arrive?
Do you have written confirmation from the DVLA that the changer of registered keeper was updated?
Not updating vehicle details and your driving licence separately could result in a real penalty of £1000 for each infringement from the DVLA

What is the name of the PPC, if these are private PCNs?

When moving home, it is always worth paying for post to be redirected.

Firstly contact the DVLA urgently with the proof of the date of change of keeper and ask them for a list of the dates and details and names of all authorities and/or all private companies who have obtained DVLA data with your name on it since that month of sale.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

We do not like polls, the opinions of the incognoscenti  are are little interest to us.

It is not a fine, it is an invoice from an ex-clamper to compensate them for the alleged harm they suffered when you did what you did. We call it a scam. Pay them not a penny unless a judge so orders it.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully, when life gets back to normal, it will become impossible for those scammers who are left to continue their vile trade, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

DPD - we don't even know if this relates to council penalties or PPC charges (or a mix given the number). We certainly don't know who the PPC is (if there is one involved). So how do you know it is an ex-clamper .... or have you an inside track on this one?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I do not know it is an ex clamper, it just sounds good, and, hopefully, puts fire in his/her belly.   .

     I will call DVLA

Personally I would write to them.  If this went to a court you would need a papern trail and some Magistrates are a bit thick.
