If it shatters the problem is the glass from the broken inner pane will fall inwards.  Glass all over the floor is not a good idea.

  That's why I mentioned what might happen, but it depends on whether this is a split in one line or a break that spreads out like a spider's web from an impact. Hopefully it will be the first, because the OP wasn't aware of an impact. Glass on the floor can be hoovered up in a few minutes if it comes to that..

It wont shatter its not toughened glass, only toughened glass shatters. This is standard float glass which cracks or breaks as described. No need to put tape over it, it wont fall out or suddenly shatter, just get the DGU replaced when possible, its a 10 minute job.
The DGU may be guarenteed most have 10 years but your issue is very hard to prove as a manufacturing defect. The only thing other than impact that makes this happen is an inclusion in the glass.
