Cancel holiday with Jet2 Holidays

Options
I have been trying to contact Jet2 Holidays to cancel our planned holiday in September due to complications following a recent illness.  All information I can find is based around Coronavirus, no mention of how to cancel for other reasons and I need to cancel this 70 days before departure date otherwise they take the balance of the payment from my credit card.  Jet2 Holidays are not taking telephone calls, I have submitted three online enquiry forms, two e-mails and the acknowledgements I have received state I can expect to wait up to 28 days for a response, by which time they will take the payment.  How can I cancel if nobody will respond?!!

Jet2 are accepting calls , people have said so on the long running jet2 thread on the new specialist coronovirus travel board at the top of the forum .

    They are just extremely busy

If you have contacted them by e-mail and have received a response that will be sufficient evidence that you did so before the 70 day limit.  It may not stop them taking the balance from your card, but it will ensure you get it back.  The 70 day period isn't until the end of June, if you are travelling in September so there is plenty of time to get it sorted.

I've called several Jet2 Holiday telephone numbers, all have a recorded message saying they are not accepting calls and they will contact passengers on a departure date basis. Thanks for all your advice, hopefully they will respond but I will keep all associated emails just in case they are necessary.

Sometimes the time to write a letter and cost of a stamp and recorded delivery can be worth it.

There will be thousands of emails and phone calls, a letter will be a novelty.

If you booked direct just go in to manage my booking on Jet2 site and go to the very bottom of the page (below all the adverts) and there is a "cancel this holiday" button (highlighted text but not large) click on that and you can cancel online, it will tell you the cost which unless you have paid more will be just the £60 pp deposit. It will ask you for a reason with a drop down box, just select other.
I cancelled our holiday last night which was for end of September and e-mail confirmation was sent around 15 mins later.

If its a medical reason as you mention illness you should then be able to claim the deposit back from your insurance company.

Thanks for pointing that out Indout96.  I'm not planning on cancelling at the moment but it's good to know the option is on there.  Were you cancelling flights or a package?  I ask as you mention the Jet2 site rather than Jet2holiday

According to Jet2 website - their official line is:

"We're sorry but due to the Covid-19 situation, our travel experts are unable to take any calls right now."

It was a full holiday to Turkey all inclusive, we took the view that even if holidays start up we would not feel safe yet as we are both hi risk group even though both key workers
already lost Russia and Greece this year and now this, still booked for Vegas in November but not due to pay balance until August so waiting to see what happens with that.
