The best way to stop it is to fight it.  The newbies thread a the top of the index page tells you how, please read it.

It is not a fine, it is an invoice from an ex-clamper to compensate them for the alleged harm they suffered when you did what you did. We call it a scam. Pay them not a penny unless a judge so orders it.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully, when life gets back to normal, it will become impossible for those scammers who are left to continue their vile trade, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

Trace are just one of a few debt collectors who roll around the sewers and can pop up anywhere .... BUT, THEY ARE POWERLESS and you can ignore them, they can do nothing. Any company who adds fake amounts to claims are simply scammers.    Who is the parking company.

Only a judge can issue a CCJ not a jumped up debt collector
  • The parking company that issued the ticket was parking control management UK Ltd and Trace have said now the following assessment of my case they have prepared the evidence against me and have now recommended to their clients that they appoint a solicitor to proceed with Court action against me

Be ready to defend if they issue proceedings. The NEWBIES FAQ sticky, second post, takes you right through court process. The more ready you are, nothing will come as a surprise.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

We can't have two running from one person about the same PCN.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
