Easyjet refund rejected

  • Today I received an email from EasyJet informing me that our EC261 expenses claim has been rejected. Our claim was based around the fact that EasyJet cancelled our return flight from Fuerteventura to Gatwick on 18th of March. We contacted their service desk at the time and they arranged an alternate flight from Fuerteventura to Amsterdam, and were asked to book a flight from Amsterdam to Gatwick at a cost of 185 Euros at our own expense, a cost she said we could claim back on our return. After waiting two months for a response EasyJet have now refused the claim stating "We will not be able to reimburse your alternate carrier claim as you flew on the flight". I would appreciate any advice on how to appeal against this decision. The service desk representative clearly stated we would get the additional expense back.

EJ must pay you back for the  Amsterdam to Gatwick flight.
You could file a complaint with EJ  then raise it to  the alternate dispute resolution (ADR)  if they still refuse to pay.
You could file a small court claim
Or if your flights were paid with a credit card (and over £100) you can claim under Section 75 consequential loss
