please please please please please.

if you or any of your friends/family sign up to a company and then at a later date find that you have been misled, please do not complain to energywatch, ofgem etc.

we state to everybody that you should not listen to what reps tell you and to do an independent comparison.

for example, if a rep tells you that you will save £100 - £200... CHECK!!! Chances are that you will sign a contract with all the info on it, so if you complain about the rep/supplier, there is nothing we can do, it just wastes time.

Feel free to call the supplier in question, but they will more than likely tell you that the employ third party agents and pass the buck.

If you feel strongly about this, you could always contact BBC WATCHDOG, they may be able help.

I agree with you on the points you make with regards to contracts and Reps and over loading Energy Watch with complaints that they can't dispute.

    BUT

Ofgem is the official energy watch dog and not the BBC. Ofgem get money via us to do a job and if they have'nt got the teeth to put the companies in place I want a body that can.
Rememember. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Please state what your job is LOON.

Energywatch is the correct pricedure to follow if you are mis-lead by a sales person.

Or if the power company fails to respnd to a complaint with in 10 working days.

The BBC is not best placed to deal with a single issue, the consumers watchdog is!

Ofgem have a close working relationship with Energywatch, and thus complaints etc re recorded by Energywatch, and fines etc are then given by the regulator OFGEM.

Why be mislead by somebody determined to make profit out of you. You must be in control of your destiny and your hard earned taxed income. Do not be mislead, do not sign anything until you understand it. This site must be able to help. ???

Perhaps someone ought to write to Energywatch and report loon for posting such nonsense. Everyone has the right to contact Energywatch as they see fit and not be guided by someone who wants an even easier life than he already has.

thanks to pak for the info, but i know our web address.

the point that i was making is that if you have been misled by a rep, and have all the info to hand eg the contract, if you complain, we will merely tell you not to listen to the rep and heed previous advice.

Then possible the correct course of action is to report this failure to respond to the customers conplaint (due to get the pun)  to OFGEM.

Energywatch is there as the consumers watchdog, if they are unable or unwilling to take seriously miss selling. Then Ofgem should be aware of this and make recomendations to the government that a consumer watchdog that will respond to consumers needs is urgently required.

Perhaps Loon may wish to post a tel no. to whom we can raise our concerns to at Energy watch 1st.

  • Yes Loon is talking rubbish...If Ofgem gets hundreds of complaints indicating that a particular companies Reps promised X and they all received Y they would be duty bound to investigate irrespective if all the contacts stated Y...Ever the the word Mis selling?...If not contact an endowment company ..they will be familiar now with the term....

You people still do not get the point....

if a rep comes round and says you will pay less, guarentees no probs, etc. it is more than likely to be rubbish.

quite simply the only thing of any importance is the contraeg: if you get told you will pay a single rate no standing charge (one of the biggest complaints) and the rep even showed you that the rates were lower, it means nothing. as you are aware there is no single rate nsc tariff as all are two tier. it does not matter what you get told, only what you sign.

loads of people complain about mis-selling, but most have not been mis-sold to. mis-selling ONLY occurs when the info given to the consumer is different to the companies tariff. as all customers sign a contract (for those of you who cannot remember, it was the A4 piece of paper you signed that said contract on it), and all contracts state terms & conditions and unit rates, you cannot be mis-sold to as you have the information at hand.

if the contract info is different to the actual tariff, then you have mis-selling. if a rep merely cons you into signing, it is not mis-selling as all info is in the contract, and it is THAT, which you sign.
