The morall of this story is - stay away from Toshiba!!As was previously stated your TV is (was) Vestel in new colours. Most other brands are repackaged Vestel products - Toshiba, Sony, Goodman, HItachi, JVC, the Argos brands Alba and Bush, Sharp, Panasonic (off and on)... The only companies who make their own TVs these days are Sony, Samsung and LG, which is reflected in the price. Some of the other brands like Philips pulled out years ago and "their" TVs are again something else with their name slapped on it.So if you want to avoid Vestel (aka cheap and cheerful), don't buy anything unless its one of the three exceptions.2 -
II got a new TV from a Euronics store - even paid extra to have it installed, what did I get - LG 43" 4k UHD. Impressed with its 'tech', no problems - apart from a few days late last week - but that was down to Virgin!I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0

Hisense bought Toshiba's TV business a few years ago, and Toshiba TVs are rebranded Vestel. So a Hisense TV sort of goes round the houses of Vestel without going inside, so to speak. I'd say Hisense is sort of a halfway house between Samsung/LG/Sony and everybody else, but looking at forums they can be a bit hit and miss in certain areas. Amazon Prime functionality got nobbled on them I seem to recall. It worked and it played Prime fine, it just took all day to get around the interface. Your mileage may vary.

I agree with some of your points, theres no vestel connection any more, they also bought Sharp name in the USA.
Amazon prime works fine easy setup,i bought on the recommendation of the Sony engineer repairing my old tv,they seem to be very informative on the web with update info, and with a 6 year warranty and saving £150 against major brands a good buy.
So no British made tv any more, remember Philips Pye Ferguson etc.0 -

So no British made tv any more, remember Philips Pye Ferguson etc.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0
