external score decline. what does this mean?

hi
I applied for credit card (MBNA) but I have a good credit score with no missed payments.  I wanted to make a balance transfer from Sainsbury's credit card to MBNA but said they couldn't as there is an external score decline?   I'm am waiting for refund to pay off the Sainsbury's credit card but as like everyone COVID-19 there are delays to pay off the Sainsbury's credit card, but Sainsbury's no interest ends in august.

What does this mean and what can I do?  Also, does closing credit cards harm your credit score?

When they reference an external score, they don't mean the pretend scores that you see. They mean you've failed their acceptance criteria based on your credit history.

Check your three credit files to see what appears.

All three.  You have three primary credit files.

Sometimes you can fail a credit check even with "amazing" credit history, no defaults, always pay on time etc.
It can be simply that the company isn't wanting customers in your group just now.

I see.  What I don't understand is I was successful in the application and they sent me the MBNA credit card?  I did the credit card affordability and got 99% score but noticed that at the bottom account stability was the only thing that had a straight face not an unhappy one?

What should I do if I can't transfer Sainsbury's balance transfer?  do I close MBNA credit card as I can't use it now or will this harm my credit score?
