This is the only account I have and am currently shielding but they won't do anything over phone and web chat said security issue and wait for letter but as I have had to go on uc as agency will not furlough me or pay ssp my uc is due to go in Saturday. Any help as to what i can do? Many thanks

I'm not sure what advice we can give here. Why won't they help you over the phone?

Myself and my daughter both bank with natwest and never had any problems. There must be a reason for them closing the account, they wouldn't just close it for no reason.

Have had account for nearly 7 years text said as part of our terms and conditions we can no longer offer you banking services so because i am shielding and been in my overdraft the only thing I can think of is because my account has been negative for so many days they have closed it. Last thing I need as can't go out to open account elsewhere but no warning at all just done it

Have you recently recieved a large sum into your account or sent a large sum? May have been shut due to suspected fraud, in which case you will be struggling to open another elsewhere if a CIFAS fraud marker has been logged against you.

Thanks bradders1983 no I have not received or sent a large sum as account is overdrawn due to me being out of work and no money coming in so guess will have to wait for letter and call universal credit tomorrow to get my money another way as stress of being in for 7 weeks isn't enough lol cheers 👍

If it's an arranged overdraft then your account wouldn't close because you're overdrawn.

Might be best off asking on the banking board.
The usual advice seems to be to do a subject access request of CIFAS to see if a fraud marker has been erroneously applied. You should also open an account with a bank outside the RBS group ASAP.

Long shot but .... Are you certain the text was genuine? Have you contacted NatWest using a telephone number/ internet address that you already had written down completely separately?

Just concerned in case your device has been hacked or its a phishing thing.
