1. moving from sky+ to skyQ during lockdown and 2: SkyQ renewal deals

Hi,
Long time user of Sky. The Q product looks very good. Sound like they will fleece me for more money but there seem to be deals.
So my questions are
1. With existing Sky + in 2 rooms, will they instal SkyQ without an engineer visit? I presume its just a case of removing the 2 boxes and replacing
2. What happens with Q once your our of the initial contract? Are sky keen to resell you a TV deal or will they just expect you to renew at the higher price and lump it? I see the equipment is on a rental basis so needs returning. My sense is they can use that as a lever.

SkyQ requires an engineer to install a hybrid LNB on your dish. It's not a case of simply swapping the boxes over.As far as I know, the standard end-of-contract rigmarole involving cancelling, offers, and all that still applies - only in the case of your TV getting as far as being switched off, they'll want the box back. I don't know whether they try to strongarm you into keeping it to save the hassle but yeah, theoretically they could. Of course, by the same token, to save themselves the hassle, if it gets to disconnection day, they might try an offer to save themselves the hassle. She would always like to say,
Why change the past when you can own this day?1 -
As already stated, Sky Q requires a new LNB on your satellite dish, it's not simply a case of swapping out your existing boxes.tired_dad said:. Not true. We've one lined up for next Tuesday. But the info says the engineer will not come into the house. So they will do the outside installation and then 'help' the customer install the Q box. Not sure how that will go, whether by phone or by the engineer peering in thru the window and shouting...Moneyineptitude said:You won't currently get a Sky Q installation anyhow due to the global emergency..

Probably be OK if you are just replacing existing Sky HD+ box ,no multiroom. More of a problem if you are having Q mini box(es) as well ,as setting up the wireless comms. can be a pain.smallblueplanet said:

Sounds like a recipe for disaster.smallblueplanet said:

If not, the cable runs will be fun if the installer won't enter the property....The OP of this thread already has two Sky+HD decoders, so he'll clearly want to slave a Sky Q mini-box to replace the multi-room and I doubt the installer will be able to "help" by peering through any windows..0 -
Yes it's just upgrading from HD+ to Q. If I thought it was difficult I'd have cancelled it.Moneyineptitude said:

But I guess there's plenty of people out there who can't even plug their Sky box in!

I had a similar situation, engineer came and everything seemed perfect till he ask what kind of slot it is. I had a cable socket which had FM radio slot and he said he had to cancel it and unless he can come inside it can't happen. So moved to june, check with them upfront to avoid unnecessary hassle for you and for them to travel to your property.0

You think the situation will have improved by next month?vini_1983 said:he said he had to cancel it and unless he can come inside it can't happen. Engineer came yesterday with all the ppe kit, changed the lnb to a hybrid lnb, installed sky q, went to loft to connect the right cables and now both sky q and freesat are working as expected. Very impressed,1
