How about when climbing a loft ladder instead of using the hand rail i put my hands on the rungs and got my fingers caught between the treads and my weight was cutting my fingers off.If the wife wasnt downstairs to come and lift the bottom section dont know what would have happened. When I recovered went into loft and preceeded to put my foot through ceiling.
Fallen from my garage roof "twice" and even out of a tree when the ladder fell away leaving me hanging there.Unfortunately no wife to save me she left probably got fed up with my DIY antics

Putting some shelves up in the conservatory a few weeks after moving in and didn't check what was below....a plug socket !!!! Straight in with the drill ...lots of smoke and a check over to make sure I had all my fingers and they hadn't blown off .

Still have the socket but now its about 3 ft from the ceiling... is rather handy actually

Worst thing I did was lift a radiator off its supporting brackets whilst decorating ,it looked ok supported by the copper pipework till it fell away from the wall snapping the said pipework and flooding the living room ,had a friend who was a plumber but in the pub because it was a bank holiday ,luckily he came round and fixed it ,the wife never let me forget for years after.

You aren't a diyer if you've never put a nail in a pipe, after just replacing that pipe.

My OH drilled a hole through a pipe after we had lifted a floorboard to find and sort the source of the daily gunshot sounds when the radiators were turned on (a nail was rubbing against the pipe as it heated up). Water poured through the newly painted downstairs ceiling in the largest room in the house, making a right mess of it. The only saving grace was we had had to delay the new carpets being installed so at least that wasn't ruined too.
