Bounce Back Loan - Barclays nightmare!

Wondering if anyone can help.
Have a business account with Barclays, I run a small business and this is the only option open to us we can not borrow elsewhere and if we can get what we need we can pay off some business debts which have high interest and survive. So obviously important.

Long story short, I have for 5 days been trying to apply online. We are a partnership so the initial error was saying it needed more than one signature before applying. After calling barclays and waiting hours I was told this was NOT the case and the error would go. Day 2 I call again and I am again told the error will be fixed for sure that night and I can even apply through the app the following day. Again both was not true, the error did not go and couldn't apply through the app.

Day 3, the woman assures me it has been fixed and she can see her end I can apply, give it 48hrs to fix and it will work.....3hrs later the error message changes too 
We need to verify the identity details for some of the individuals named on your account before we can process a Bounce Back Loan for your business.

So the woman downright lied to me, I called back that same day and a different person told me one of us needs to have our basic details verified as we never responded to a e-mail sent out last year(never got a e-mail). She states it's literally just my name, email, phone number etc... nothing major. She said I would get a call back in 48hrs. Again this has not happened and the same error still exists. We have been lied too, fobbed off and passed around just trying to apply.

Does anyone have a idea or a phone number specific for the bounce back loan in which I can chase this up, as we need to apply for this loan asap. This bank have been nothing short of a disgrace how we have been treated, we have been with them 4yrs and instead of simply asking me over the phone to verify I have to wait for a call that is not coming to verify.

Has anyone had any luck with the above error message and any solution to fixing it?

  • Went to the branch after hours on end on the phone either not getting through or getting answered then being told to call a different number. The man in the branch dealing with BUSINESS accounts had no experience and only does personal. He had no idea what needed verifying and updated some minor information like phone number and e-mail and still got the same error.

    Honestly mentally draining 4 days no call back, no one answering the phone and the branch can't do anything. Does anyone know how easy it is if we apply through HSBC? What info do we need to supply to do it through them without actually having a account with them?

    Once this is all over I will be closing my Barclays account as this is how they treat customers, no other banks have had such awful customer service.

    Try the mandate team. If anyone's details need verifying and there is a problem they should know what it is. I am waiting to be accepted as a signatory on an account, my ID is fine but one of the other signatories needs to update their information (re money laundering requirements) even though he has been a signatory for 20+ years.
    The mandate team number is 0333 202 7477. Hope this helps.
    (And yes other banks are as bad, if not worse! through work I deal with TSB, HSBC and Nat West and sorry to say but Barclays is by far the easiest)

    Thank you for that number. I have not been given that one so maybe better luck with that number, than the 4hrs on hold and no answer from the standard numbers. BTW when the music stops are you still on hold? Cause that happes alot with Barclays I can't tell if I've been kicked off or not.
  • So I got through to the mandate team, who said nothing needs verifying from what they can see. Told me to call loan team 03456052345 which I have never got through too in 7 days of trying, and have not got a call back either after 4/5 days of requesting it. There isn't even any hold music so not even sure if I'm on hold.

    Genuinely angry how no one is trying to fix the issue or even knows what it is. Literally nothing else I can do but wait for a call that will likely not even come.
  • Not had my issue resolved yet but hopefully one step closer.

    What I will suggest is anyone facing issues DO NOT WASTE your time calling any numbers, go to your local branch. After kicking up a fuss in the branch, I was told someone from the bank will be in touch, soon as I got home I got a e-mail stating a red marker was on my account and they have e-mailed the relevant department to lift it. I should expect to have it fixed over the next few days. We will see if that is the case, but always go to your bank as you will never get anything resolved over the phone.
  • Almost 4 weeks of still not getting it sorted!! promised this and that, numerous calls and promised callbacks that never happen. promises errors will be removed from account in 48 hours. Am now having panic attacks and sleepless night tat yhis wont get sorted before deadline. I just don't know what to do next. No other bank has had these issues!
  • I am having exactly the same issue, friends, clients and suppliers all seem to be getting their loans easily but this is week 5 now and still no one has contacted me back.  I have filled their call back form in 6 times, waited over a hour every time I have called only to be told someone will call me back.  Really worried now that the loan scheme will end and I wont have had a chance to even apply.  Horrendous.
  • Just to follow up on my last post.  I phoned Barclays through my Mobile App yesterday afternoon and it took 1.5 hours to get through to someone.  Once I did I explained the issues I was having and the representative from Barclays was really helpful.  He explained that with the Bounce Back Loan although the application is simple you have one chance to apply and if rejected there isn't any way of reapplying.  So Barclays have put in a mechanism that stops businesses applying if there is any out of date information.  We went through the records and discovered that my office address was correct at companies house but was my home address with Barclays.  So this has been updated now.  Also there was a couple of other minor things that needed updating.  Once we did this I was told that I should get a email or text message in the next few days saying I can apply.  If there is any other issues that they will call me.
