Vanquis Bond

Options
I opened an online account for the one year bond. Between opening it and receiving the paperwork from Vanquis I saw online that the interest rate had gone from 1.6% to 1.54% so I tried calling Vanquis to ascertain the rate for my account which I opened early April. Despite several phone call attempts and emails I have had no response, and now the interest rate is at 1.29. I think I will invest elsewhere.

Why haven't you logged on to view your account? Far easier.  ;)

There aresome communication problems with this bank at the moment, although they are not the only one.
However if you opened the account when the rate was 1.6%, then this is the rate you will get .
  • I made an application for a 2 year fixed bond at 1.65% - sent money on 18 April, along with relevant proof of ID.  My cheque was cashed on 23 April and my proof of ID was returned to me on 30 April. Since then, I have heard nothing - I have emailed several times, received a standard "unprecedented contact volumes we are receiving in relation to coronavirus..." email and that they will reply to me within 5 working days.  I did not hear anything from them.  It has been 3 1/2 weeks since they cashed my cheque, I called this morning - my account is waiting to be authorised I was told, it will take 7-10 days to receive a welcome pack and the User ID I need to access my account.  Frankly, with this terrible service, I would have preferred to cancel the whole thing!  I will wait to see what happens next.  I would certainly not give Vanquis Bank a recommendation.

It's in a 2 year fixed bond so what's your rush to look at it online, you know what's been invested so that ain't gonna change just because you can log in!!!

It is true that in real terms it will make little difference but people just do not like these kind of delays/non communication.

A family member opened a new one year fixed rate account last week as a new customer with Ford Money and the account was setup and the money in it , within a couple of days. No request for ID documents and no delays , despite Covid. Although I understand if you have to call them there are long delays there as well.

Weeks into a lockdown and people still don't appreciate that many companies are not fully staffed.............

Has anyone heard of the website www.nationalfixedrateguide.com ?

It came up when I was searching for savings accounts at the top of my search engine search results as an ad, and they have very attractive rates for fixed income bonds, BUT the site looks very dubious to me.  I can't find out anything about it from detective work on the Internet and they want you to join before they will give you any details of the bonds.  Their registered address (33 Queen St, London EC4R 1AP) appears to be just a rentable office space used by at least 74 other companies.

Wondering if anyone knows for sure that it is a scam?

    It's a classic scam offering .

By the way you should not hijack other peoples threads. Better to start your own.

    Looks dodgy AF
The National Fixed Rate Guide website was created 3 days ago (2020-05-16T20:18:35Z)
The 'Top 3 fixed rate investments' show ISINs so even if legitimate (highly unlikely) they are investments not savings
The main purpose of the site seems to be to obtain your personal details
    I'd rather eat wasps
Just don't click on Google or Facebook ads
