Trying to cancel my broadband 😫

I've been with Talk Talk for a year, during which time, the connection and WiFi signal has been dreadful. Thankfully my contract is now over but cancelling seems to be an issue at this time. Phone calls are only being taken for vulnerable people, the only way to contact them seems to be a live chat. I managed to get through last week (after many failed attempts) and said I wished to cancel. I was told that talk talk would contact me via email to continue with my cancellation in 24-48 hrs. Which of course didn't happen. I've cancelled my direct debit as I refuse to pay the new out of contract price but I'm now being threatened with charges, even though I believe I've given enough notice to cancel in time. What do I do? Anyone in the same boat? Many thanks

Reinstate your direct debit and cancel the contract in writing (letter or e-mail).Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

You'll need to contact them again but you will still need to pay your bills until you're disconnected. Do be aware though that you could be left without internet connection for quite some time.

The wi-fi signal isn't actually anything to do with the broadband connection, it's the router being used. A wifi extender can solve the problem without having to change provider.0

Ring them up @ 0930 hours, during office hours, Tuesday morning. You don't get 24 hour customer service during a COVID-19 outbreak....
Although...if it were me, I would type a complaint letter, stating that you want to terminate your contract due to a poor service record. Stick it in the post, and you've got yourself a paper trail...email: concerns@talktalkplc.com
and
Replies will typically arrive within 72 hours.
or
Write to TalkTalk (TTR), PO Box 675, Salford, M5 0NL.
and
They reply to every postal complaint within 10 days of receipt.
But
During the COVID-19 outbreak, I would double those reply timescales. So you could be waiting for anything up to 20 days I reckon
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0
