Is it the whole mirror assembly that was knocked off the car?
If so, sticking it back on with silicone would allow it to pass the requirement for there to be a mirror but depending on exactly how well it is attached and if it's noticed it could still fail on:(b) Obligatory mirror or device:
(i) slightly damaged or loose
(ii) inoperative, excessively damaged or insecure

And don't do what I saw before lockdown: an old Focus, with the door mirror strapped on with duct tape. Duct tape being over the mirror and obscuring at least 50% of the reflective surface. Saw that car twice in one day.
I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

There's not a minimum or maximum size a wing mirror should be. Some vw vans have different sizes on each side. As long as you can see you are goodRobisere said:And don't do what I saw before lockdown: an old Focus, with the door mirror strapped on with duct tape. I can fix it on with sealant for now, but it can’t ever fold back in.Scrapit said:
