Then you obviously weren't reading my posts which told you there would be loads by Christmas. This was another one of those manufacturer created shortages used to build up hype and demand.
Hardly - the analysts have already said they have lost over a billion in sales because of this.

Sure they might have managed to get a lot of stock to the shops just in time for Chrismas, but I bet its still sold out everywhere by the end of Christmas Eve.0 -

Very possibly, they've flown them in from Japan instead of shipping it. The wholesale cost of buying space on an airplane is $2.50 per KG, and with a Wii being approx 4.5 it is only an extra 6 quid.
Flying them in meant the Wiis arrived in time for Xmas. However, as it takes approx 1 month for a ship to arrive in UK from Japan. it means they have used up stock that would otherwise have arrived in End Jan by ship. This is because stock that would have left Japan now to arrive by ship in End of Jan, has already been flown in and arrived for Xmas.
So we could see a shortage again in the new year, until their production catches up, or unless they continue to fly in their consoles as they are produced.
Also, Wii Remotes and Wii Plays still seem to be out of stock. Hence Im not entirely certain stock was witheld just to encourage hype0 -

Argos now have masses of them in stock ~ but they are all bundled, none are being sold as the stndard £179.99 package, at least £100 more with games.
Got mine weeks ago, fortunately, though from Germany, but at least I only paid postage as extra rather than on thething itself ~ though it's much of amuchness really.
Sorry, four hours sleep, due to teen keeping meawake, and 3 yr old up at 5am, so I'm waffling away now, with nonsensical ramblings and gookledegob.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
I had given up hope, but after an epic two week journey from Germany, Amazon.de finally came up trumps and my Wii Play arrived this morning, delivered by a stressed postie on overtime! :j
I have a reservation for a Wii Play at the Argos Extra, Newport Maesglas Retail Park, valid until end of tomorrow, at £34.97
PM me if you want it.

Amazon affiliates or associates as they call them, get a tracking id in the UK that ends with -21 and USA have -20 I think. The affiliate id in the above posted link is Produrewar-21 .
So look out for "tag=" then if it has -21 after it, it's an affiliate ID/link.
There are some sneaky people out there you know lol.
The above shows how much Amazon affiliates can make depending on how many customers they get.
Might not be much on small/ low cost items but Wii's are atleast £179.98 ofcourse more for bundles, so per order they are getting atleast £9 per order for 1 £179.98 sale.
explains why scorpians link is an affiliate link, it has the "21" in itEx forum ambassador

i dont see the problem with affiliate links if they are from regular posters and you, as the customer, end up paying the same anyway.
If i wanted to buy a wii now, and it was going to cost me £200... but if by clicking someones link it would make them a fiver then why not click their link? is it against board rules? ( i would imagine it is, but thought i'd ask!)
it is annoying when "newbies" slap up affiliate links, but if a regular poster does it i dont see a problem.... but that's just me and i aint a miserable sod! (well.. not always)Hating Hastings Direct!0 -
Its against the board rules to post affilate links here. Even the referral forum when some links are allowed to be posted have rules on posting certain links like tradedoubler etc which are only meant for there own web sites
