(and remember the US is also having stock problems it's not just the UK they have to manufacture for)

Having spoken with my sister in America on saturday night with regards to the Wii she has told me that where they stay that they are plentiful in the shops not only of wii's but xbox 360 and playstation3's as we thought about getting her to take one over for xmas when she flies in, however we discounted that method after we realised the differences in games format i.e pal v ntsc. May be that certain places in america is having minor problems but for other states there isn't a problem.Once again it seems that rip-off britain is the only place in the world thats having stock shortages or is it just to keep demand and price up. Consoles are widely available in the EU so why not here as its the same pal version just a different 2 pin power socket instead of our 3 pin one. Luckily I was in the right place at the right time and got one from amazon in the early hours of sunday. Gonna try and get another one and maybe help a fellow mse member put a smile on their kids xmas but unsuccessful as yet but will keep trying.
    Cheers
    ;)

Check down the back of your Sofa :D Failing that, Play.com had some in stock a day or two ago, might be worth keeping an eye on that site.

I saw this too in Florida where they had plenty, but as you say it does seem to vary from state to state.
  • are you able to get a refund if you return the wii to Argos??

Best Buy, Circuit City, and Game stop are all reporting they won't have stocks till next year. Walmart as saying very resticted supply, 1 per person, I guess it just varies around the US.

And they Wii has region coding, it's not as simple as the TV systems to bring one in.

But there are compatilbilty issues with uk wii games working on US Wii's as they are still coded using NTSC/PAL varients unlike PS3's that are Blu-ray and not region coded and hence as long as you have an HD TV is ok(I have a US PS3). so I'd stear clear of buying an American wii......
