It's a cashback site. You sign up and use the link to John Lewis from the quidco.com site. They pay a percentage of the order value into a quidco account which you can withdraw to your bank account. There is a £5 annual fee - but I've made that back easy. There is a note about John Lewis however :

The use of discount codes and vouchers will result in your cashback being declined.

If you got the £20 off then that's probably the best you could have done.

I've just called CS after seeing your message, mine is still showing as on route but they have confirmed that it was delivered to store at lunchtime. Give the store a call or call CS again, the people I've spoken to have been really helpful. I guess I'll be the first one to try and get the instore offer game, will keep everyone posted.
